Diving into a Unique Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Turdy Character with the Goal to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have discovered plenty of engaging independent titles. However, one catches the eye for its unconventional concept. Called Unko Technica, this old-school styled platformer lets you play a hero that is actually a piece of poop striving to make its way to a toilet. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop."

The gameplay is simple: you only need a jump control. Throughout numerous stages, battle tough enemies and visit a store to buy outfits for your poop character.

Plan your movements with caution, as a wrong move means restarting the level. Jump using bubbles to hurl the poop to new heights, cross fragile surfaces, and interact with switches to reveal hidden paths. Gather currency and use them on more difficult game content where things ramps up.

Graphically, the game shows off eye-catching environments and catchy music score. Its minimalist graphics of morphing abstract forms could recall players of old favorites like Earthbound.

While it's difficult to recall previous releases where you play as a coiled turd, interactive entertainment frequently featured toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players create throwables from protagonist excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ dung as fertilizer. Unsurprisingly, such content is present extensively in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its silly concept, Unko Technica has already received significant recognition, including winning at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. This trial version is available currently on Steam, with the full game planned to launch on PC this November.
